It wasn't locked up, but I had just moved from a very rural area where people left everything unlocked. I haven't had a bike since. Maybe I should get one. :)

Re: Criminals and Good People who Do Nothing

What you need are some turtle lights, like these
http://jeromes-bikes.blogsp...
The SFBC gave them out for free a couple months back.

Or a nice headlight like this and a small blinky in the rear. You just need to take them off every time you leave your bike.
http://www.amazon.com/Plane...

Re: Criminals and Good People who Do Nothing

That really sucks. I remember I saved all my Christmas money three years ago to buy my bike that I actually use as transportation to get to school, and it got stolen at the gas station where I locked it up while I was inside. Freakin jerks.

Re: Criminals and Good People who Do Nothing

Have had my bike lights stolen once. Then I learned to snap them off and take them with me each time. Then I learned only to put them on when I needed them.

Still, that totally sucks and I understand why you're down. But don't let thieves fricking bring you down. They're cowards, and you're better than that.

Had my seat stolen once. Now THAT'S a pain in the ass. LITERALLY!

Re: Criminals and Good People who Do Nothing

Tenacious refusal to descend into the sewer that is inhabited by bike light thieves is the very essence of civilized humanity. Stiff upper lip old chap. We rise above the ordinary to shine as a beacon to the unschooled or ignorant dregs of society. We must model right behavior regardless of the swill that surrounds us, or the wrongs done to us. Sleepless will be the nights for those who have no integrity. Do right, even though no one is looking, and you will know that you, at least, are a man. Those who do not practice the same are less than human and do not deserve to eat at our feet.
